First Discovery Day of the summer - with a long list of activities

A music-themed Discovery Day with outdoor activities and a Bluffton Bucks prize drawing will be hosted by Bluffton businesses on Saturday, June 26.

The village’s downtown district along Main Street has more than 60 shops, services and restaurants. Bluffton also hosts a Saturday morning Bluffton Cars & Coffee gathering and the Bluffton Farmers Market.

The Bluffton Presbyterian Church, 112 N .Main St., will dedicate its new gazebo in a noon ceremony on Saturday, June 26.

In the event of rain, the festivities will be held in the church.

A Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting and concert by the Dave Sycks Bluffton Brass Quintet are part of the ceremonies.

For pre-school camp on July 2 it's all about garden fairies

Bluffton Family Recreation summer camp is underway and there's still room for additional campers for next week’s camp, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.

Register for next week’s camp by calling BFR at 419-358-4150.

"BFR summer camp is a full day experience, designed with a wide range of activities guaranteed to expand your child’s horizons. It is open to youth ages 5 to 12," said Tinch. 

He continued: "Kids have fun while making new friends, developing new skills, learning core values, building self-confidence and growing in self-reliance.

A graduate of Allen East High School

Dennis "Denny" W. Fry, 72, died June 23, 2021, at Lima Memorial Health System. Denny was born June 14, 1949, in Lima to the late Robert and VonDale (Winget) Fry. 

Denny graduated from Allen East High School. He was a heavy equipment operator working at Williams Excavating, R.D. Jones Excavating, Standard Oil and later owned and operated Denny Fry's Bluelick Landfill. 

Denny was a member of the Tri-County Antique Tractors, the former VFW in Waynesfield, National Rifle Association, Lima Aerie Eagles #370 and was affiliated with various antique tractor clubs.
