You never know who will show up in town after a heavy fall. This snowperson apparently canoed into from the upper Riley. It became stuck or simply parked in the Campus Life lawn on College Avenue. Jamie Nygaard took this and several additional snow photos in this series.

Open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; ribbon cutting in AM

Edward Jones financial advisor Ryan DeMarco invites the public to visit his new office at 111 N Main St. in Bluffton.

The 9 a.m.-4 p.m. open house on Friday, Feb. 14, includes a ribbon cutting at 9-9:30 a.m. with members of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Mother Nature reminds us of the season

"The wonder of a single snowflake outweighs the wisdom of a million meterologists."

Or, so says an unknown philosopher.

Bluffton awoke to one of the rare true snowfalls of the season this morning. It first delayed and then closed area schools.

It brought out the shovels, the snow plows, the window scrapers and the boots. It made a pot of coffee seem heavenly.

Bluffton schools join a host of area schools closing its doors today (Thursday, Feb. 13) due to wintery weather conditions.

Greg Denecker, superintendent, made the closing announcement on Ohio Alerts at 7:45 a.m.
