Dave Stratton, Bluffton resident and partner in a Main Street business here, has an economic development viewpoint that covers the entire county. 

As director and CEO of Allen Economic Development Group, he told Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce members on Friday morning that he sees lots of possibilities for the county.

“We are not just for Lima. We cover Bluffton, Delphos, and the Spencerville communities,” he said about AEDG’s outreach.

University athletic hall of fame on Saturday

Three exceptional Bluffton University alumni will be honored this year during Bluffton’s Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 15.

In addition, students who have served as mascots J. Denny and Jenny Beaver in 2019, will be revealed. 

Sarah (Betts ’06) vonSeggern will be inducted for achievements in softball. One of the best pitchers in Bluffton softball history, she was previously inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of Bluffton’s 2004 softball team.

Bluffton High School scholar athlete, Kyle Koontz, will sign a letter of intent to kick for the Ohio Northern University football team beginning next school year.

Koontz plans to major in computer science at ONU, and pursue a career in informational technology.

While a kicker for the Pirate football team Kyle set a record for kicking the most extra points in a game, and kicked the second longest field goal in the school’s history.

Conference wrestling tournament Saturday at Grove

The Northwest Conference wrestling tournament will be at Columbus Grove High School on Saturday, Feb.15, with both high school and junior high teams wrestling.  

NWC teams include Ada, Allen East, Bluffton, Columbus Grove, Delphos Jefferson, Lincolnview, Paulding and Spencerville.  Crestview will also compete in the JH tournament.

Allen East won the championship in 2019 with its 8th championship, followed by Bluffton and Columbus Grove.
