Danielle Novak, a Bluffton High School senior, is the Icon’s artist of the month.
She has taken Art I, Design I, Design II and is now taking Design III.
For the art project featured in this story, the prompt was "looking through something."
She said, “I decided to make a reduction print, in which the viewer is "looking through" a magnifying glass at a boy sitting alone in a park. My goal was to create a piece focusing on someone who nobody else seems to notice.”
Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to gather at Bluffton University’s Campus Welcome Center for the second annual “Christmas at the Houshower House.”
The festivities will begin at 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, for carols, hot chocolate and a house lighting ceremony.
Following the ceremony, visitors are welcome inside of the Houshower House to view interior decorations and mingle.
The Icon held posting this photo by Marvin Foster for an appropriate moment between fall and winter sports seasons.
There was too much static last week for this picture to get its proper attention.
Holding the microphone is Tim Stried, Ohio High School Athletic Association director of information services. In the photo he presents Bluffton's boys' soccer team its Division III state runner-up trophy.
Chris Gibbs, an Ohio native, lifelong Republican, past chair of the local Republican party, and long-time farmer, announced he is leaving the Republican Party and launching an exploratory committee to consider running against Jim Jordan as an Independent for Ohio’s 4th Congressional District.
“As I've talked to farmers, business owners, teachers, nurses, civil servants, friends and family, they all agree.
“ Throughout the month of November and December, The Dough Hook will collect pantry items for the Ronald McDonald house along with cash donations that will be turned into meat for the freezer,” said Ballinger.
