Library and Greg's team up for a - "Say Cheese!" - amateur photo contest

Do you enjoy taking photographs? Have great shots of your children? Favorite vacation scenes? Maybe your passion is capturing nature in your own backyard.

If you take photos for the fun and joy of it, you are eligible to participate in Bluffton Public Library's Amateur Photo Contest.

The photo contest, sponsored by Greg's Pharmacy, will award more than $800 in prizes.

Local author book display at Bluffton Public Library

Beginning the end of June and throughout the month of July, Bluffton Public Library will showcase the talents of local authors through a book display.

As part of the Sesquicentennial, most of the books on display will be available for check-out. A number of non-circulating books will also be displayed and available for in-library browsing.

The local author book display, which includes over 35 titles, may be viewed during regular library hours: Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Birdies for Bookworms Golf Scramble Held at Bluffton

Golfers receive instructions before the golf scramble

Teams of golfers "teed" it up in the "Birdies for Bookworms Golf Scramble" on Saturday, June 4. Held on the beautifully groomed Bluffton Golf Club and sponsored by the Friends of the Bluffton Public Library, the event raised money to help offset significant reductions in state funding.

Following the round of golf and several proximity contests on the course, everyone enjoyed dinner and the distribution of door prizes. Local resident Oscar Velasquez also provided musical entertainment during the meal.

Library program focus on analyzing old photos June 14

Do you have photos of past family members without any recollection of their history? Are you curious about your family or local history?

Anne Stratton, a licensed and certified appraiser who is nationally recognized in the antique appraisal field, will present a program titled "Unpuzzle Your Past by Analyzing Old Photos" on Tuesday, June 14, at 6:30 p.m. T

his program will be held in the lower level of the Bluffton Public Library and is sponsored by Deer Creek Shoppes.

Novel destination silent auction continues through June 4

Looking for fun this summer? Relaxation? Adventure? History? Culture? Bluffton Public Library has something for everyone in its "Novel Destinations" silent auction.

More than 30 items are available, including bed and breakfast stays at the historic Inn at Irwin Gardens, the Housley House, the Pines of Dresden, Simple Pleasures, the Dunkle One-room Schoolhouse and the Gingerbread House on Little Traverse Bay.
