Soon school will be out, but families can still read at the Bluffton Public Library this summer. BPL is hosting its annual summer reading club from June 4 to July 31.
"This year our theme is "Dream big, Read!" which is all about night time," said Rikki Unterbrink, library youth services coordinator.
Youths in grades kindergarten to fifth, will have a theme called "Dream big, Read!" while teens ranging from grades sixth to high school seniors, will have a separate but related theme called "Own the night."
Love to golf? Love your library? Put the two together and you get the "Birdies for Bookworms" Golf Scramble on Saturday, June 9. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Bluffton Public Library and offers many fun ways to support the local library.
Golfers can join Mayor Eric Fulcomer for a scramble event at the Bluffton Golf Club including green fees, cart, continental breakfast and lunch for $50. There will also be a skins game, proximity prizes and door prizes for golfers.
The discussion will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at Richland Manor, 7400 Swaney Rd., Bluffton. Lunch will be provided with advance registration, courtesy of Richland Manor.
Do you find that it is often too hot or that there is just not enough time during the day to enjoy your garden? Plan a twilight garden to enjoy as the sun goes down and the temperatures are cooler.
Join Allen County Master Gardener, Pat Komarek, on Tuesday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m. to learn how to create your own evening garden that will come to life at night with blooms and floral fragrances to delight the senses!
Bluffton Public Library will be hosting two exciting new programs for preschool children and their families this spring.
First, it's fun for the whole family during "Family Storytime." This program includes stories, songs, finger plays and other fun activities designed for children from birth to age 5, but older siblings are also welcome.
Beginning Monday, June 11, storytime for preschoolers ages 3-5 will be held at Bluffton Public Library on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at 10 a.m.
Themes this summer are based on the early literacy collaborative summer reading program, "Dream Big - Read!" Each Storytime session is approximately 35-40 minutes in length and includes stories, songs, finger plays and other related activities. Parents or caregivers must register their child at the library's front desk.
Storytime is a free, fun way to help children develop their imagination and early literacy skills.
