The Bluffton University men's basketball team traveled down I-75 to take on the Mount St. Joseph Lions in a mid-week conference clash on Wednesday, Feb.5.
After the visitors took a 12-9 lead on a three-ball from Dezman Brown (Elyria), they never looked back en route to a convincing 66-53 victory. Bluffton improved to 11-9 overall and 7-6 in the Heartland Conference thanks to a third straight win, while MSJ dipped to 4-16 and 2-11 in the HCAC.
“How do the stories you choose to tell shape how others see you or even how you see yourself?” Dr. Jane Wood, president of Bluffton University posed this question during her Jan. 31 Colloquium presentation “A Life in Story: The Construction of Personal Narrative.”
During the presentation, Wood reflected on the role of narrative and how and what we choose to tell others, and ourselves, shapes our lives.
Cyneatha Millsaps, executive director, Mennonite Women USA, will present the Forum, “Gun Violence: Its Effects on Family and Community,” at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, in Yoder Recital Hall.
Millsaps will tell about her family’s experience with gun violence and describe the many risks associated with gun ownership – particularly in communities of color.
Dr. Melissa Friesen, art, communication and theatre department chair, and Dr. Walt Paquin, director of social work program, will share “Arts-based Civic Practice and Learning in Community,” during a Colloquium presentation at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7 in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.
The Bluffton University women's basketball team welcomed Franklin College to town on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, for Alumni Day. The Beavers were able to hold off a tough Grizzly team, 66-56. Bluffton improved to 10-9 (4-8 HCAC) while Franklin slipped to 11-7 (7-5 HCAC).
