To a standing-room-only-crowd in Yoder Recital Hall, Rev. Daniel Hughes made a statement that nearly everyone has felt at some point in their life. “We can be extremely lonely in a place that is packed full of people.”
Hughes, a 2003 graduate and former faculty and staff member, returned to campus under a new title: Forum speaker. The pastor of the Price Hill campus of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Cincinnati shared a message of transformation through personal connection during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Forum.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University men's basketball squad headed south on Interstate 75 to take on the Transylvania University Pioneers. Despite a strong start by the Beavers, Transylvania took control in the second half to defeat the visitors, 81-67. Bluffton stands 8-9 overall (5-5 HCAC), while the Pioneers improved to 13-4 and 8-2 in the conference.
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University women's basketball team was unable to overcome a 30 percent shooting afternoon as Transylvania University capped its season sweep of the Beavers with a 73-59 victory on Saturday, Jan. 20. Bluffton slipped to 12-5 and 7-3 in the Heartland Conference, while Transy improved to 13-4 and 8-2 in the HCAC.
An exhibit featuring the work of art professors from Goshen College will be featured in Bluffton University’s Grace Albrecht Gallery, located in the Sauder Visual Arts Center. Opening Feb. 1, the exhibit is free and open to the public through Feb. 23.
Sarah Thompson, 2018 Generations Fellow, Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, will present Bluffton University’s 2018 Keeney Peace Lecture during the Jan. 30 Forum, “From Charlottesville to Congo to Cleveland: The State of Nonviolence,” at 11 a.m. in Yoder Recital Hall.
