Bluffton University

Dr. Melissa Friesen, Mary Nord Ignat and Joseph Ignat Professor of Theatre and Communication, will present the colloquium "Classroom, Workshop, Dorm Room: Plays Well with Others” on Friday, Jan. 29, at Bluffton University. Using illustrations from her Theatre for Social Change course and participatory exercises, the presentation explores techniques designed to build trust, empathy and critical engagement with issues of identity and social justice.
 
Her presentation is free and open to the public beginning at 4 p.m. in Centennial Hall. 

Dozens of scholarships will be awarded to incoming Bluffton University students who participate in the Presidential Scholarship Competition at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23. 

Two students who participate will receive a full tuition scholarship, valued at more than $105,000 over four years.  The recipients are chosen based on an essay written during the competition, overall grade point average and standardized test score.

HILLSDALE, Mich. - The Bluffton University men’s and women’s track and field team traveled north across the border into Michigan to compete at the Hillsdale College Winter Opener. In strong fields where the Beavers were the only Division III competitors, there were a bevy of strong performances leading to conference championship qualifiers, personal record performances and a new school record.

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Bluffton University women used a 15-3 run midway through the fourth quarter to finally get some separation as the Beavers pulled away from Anderson for a 75-66 victory on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016. Bluffton stays perfect at 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the Heartland Conference, while Anderson slipped to 3-10 overall and 2-4 in the HCAC.

ANDESON, Ind. - The Anderson University men scored nine straight points to end the first period en route to an 85-72 win over the Beavers on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016. Bluffton fell to 8-5 overall and 3-3 in the Heartland Conference following its second straight setback, while Anderson improved to 6-7 on the season and 2-4 in the HCAC.

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Bluffton University women’s basketball team continued their impressive streak on Wednesday, Jan. 6 with a 75-44 road win over the Mount St. Joseph University Lions. The victory pushed Bluffton to a perfect 12-0 on the year, as they stand alone atop the conference with a 5-0 mark. MSJ fell to 3-9 overall and 2-3 in HCAC action.
