BLUFFTON, Ohio - Despite a late first half run, the Bluffton University women's basketball team came up short of a victory on Sunday, Dec. 28, as they fell to the Albion College Britons, 80-73, in the semifinals of the McDonald’s Holiday Tournament. The early contest was won by Denison as the Big Red defeated Muskingum 71-63. The Britons improved to 7-3 on the season while the Beavers fell to 6-3.
Dr. Susan Schultz Huxman, president of Conrad Grebel University College in Waterloo, Ontario, will consider the future of Christian liberal arts education during a Bluffton University forum on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
Her presentation, “Planting Seeds of Faithfulness: Why Christian Liberal Arts Education (Still) Matters,’’ is free and open to the public beginning at 11 a.m. in Bluffton’s Founders Hall.
Melissa Friesen, professor and chair of theatre and communication at Bluffton University, will discuss "Oppressor, Oppressed, Bystander, Ally: Theatre for Social Change and Identity” in a campus colloquium on Friday, Jan. 9. Beginning at 4 p.m. in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall, the presentation is free and open to the public.
Stations,” a series of drawings and paintings by Chicago-area artist Jacob van Loon, will be on exhibit Jan. 6-25 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery of Bluffton University’s Sauder Visual Arts Center.
Admission to the show is free. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. An artist reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25.
