LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Transylvania Pioneers made a statement to the rest of the HCAC as they hit seven first half triples en route to their 96-49 victory over the Bluffton women’s basketball team on Saturday, Feb. 21. The 15th-ranked Pioneers finished the regular season unbeaten in the HCAC at 18-0 and 24-1 overall. Bluffton will go into tournament play at 18-7 with a 12-6 mark in the conference.

Dr. Matthew Friesen, Bluffton University’s new assistant professor of sociology, will discuss his recently completed doctoral dissertation and a related research method in a Bluffton colloquium on Friday, Feb. 27.

His presentation on "Movements, Majors and Networks, Oh My!  A Snapshot of Social Network Analysis Software and Research Applications" will begin at 4 p.m. in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall. It is free and open to the public.

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Bluffton women’s basketball team used a 21-2 start to the game to easily defeat Earlham College, 81-59, on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 18. The Beavers moved into a tie for second in the HCAC standings, improving to 12-5 in the conference and 17-7 overall, while the Quakers slipped to 7-17, 5-12 in the conference. Bluffton’s 17th victory is a new school record for wins in a season!

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University freshman Macey Sheerer (Bucyrus) has been named the Heartland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her work on the hardwood in wins over MSJ and Rose-Hulman last week. It marks the second time this season that the Beavers have had a women's basketball player honored, following junior Taylor Whitaker (Mansfield/Ontario) who claimed the honor for her work over Christmas break.

Dr. Jo Beth Gonzalez, a drama teacher at Bowling Green High School and president of the American Alliance for Theatre and Education, will address “Inspiring Commitment to Social Issues through Theatre Education” on Feb. 24 at Bluffton University.

Free and open to the public, her Bluffton forum presentation will begin at 11 a.m. in Founders Hall.
