Each team scored within the first two minutes of the match as Waynesburg capitalized on a corner kick just over one minute into the contest. The immediate past president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics said Sept. 23 that she thinks “there’s a lot of misunderstanding” about the Common Core State Standards for math.

The mortality rate of honey bees has doubled over the past several decades, and it’s largely due to man-made causes, says Dr. Todd Rainey, professor of biology at Bluffton University.
“You’d have trouble watching the news these last few years and not knowing that honey bees are in trouble,” Rainey told a campus colloquium audience Sept. 19.
In past decades, 10-15 percent of honey bee colonies died during the winter months. Today, only about two-thirds of colonies survive the coldest months, he noted.
BLUFFTON, Ohio - It was all blue skies and sunshine over Bluffton on Tuesday, Sept. 23, as the men's soccer team controlled the pace in a stunning 2-1 victory over Wittenberg University, a squad that stood 5-2-1 following three straight victories over Heartland Conference schools Earlham, Defiance, and Mount St. Joseph by a cumulative score of 9-0. The Beavers improved to 2-6 on the season, while the Tigers slipped to 5-3-1 overall.
