Women can learn about tools for better living on Saturday, April 6, when Bluffton University’s Women’s Council hosts the fourth annual R&R for Women conference.

Bluffton alumnae and a current student will be among the presenters during the conference, titled “Staying Strong: What’s in your toolbox?” Hours are 9:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Centennial Hall—site of the morning sessions—and the new Sommer Center for Health and Fitness Education, where the afternoon session will be held. Lunch will be in Marbeck Center.

Longtime mission worker Jonathan Larson will be at Bluffton University on Thursday, March 14, to show the recently released film “Weaving Life” at 8 p.m. in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall. Bluffton’s campus ministries office is sponsoring the event, which is free and open to the public.

Larson is featured in the film, a documentary about the life of his friend, Dan Terry, and Terry’s family. Terry spent more than 30 years devoted to the people of Afghanistan before he and nine other humanitarian aid workers were assassinated in August 2010.

Cyneatha Millsaps, lead pastor of Community Mennonite Church in Markham, Ill., will address “Prisons: Not Just for the Criminal” in a Bluffton University Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, in Founders Hall. The Spiritual Life Week presentation is free and open to the public.

Millsaps is scheduled to relate the story of her son’s experience in prison and how it has affected her family. Sharing how God has sustained them through difficult times, she will also present a challenge for Christians and the broader church to care for those who are imprisoned.

Bluffton University recreation students and intramural athletics staff will host Kid’s Night Out from 6-10 p.m. Saturday, March 23, in the Sommer Center for Health and Fitness Education.

Open to children in grades 1-6, the event costs $13 per child if registered by March 21 and $15 at the door. Families who pre-register more than one child will pay $12 per youngster. A parent must accompany any child who registers at the door. Checks should be payable to the Bluffton University Recreation Club.
