Bluffton University has once again been named to the top tier of Midwest “regional colleges” in the “U.S. News & World Report” rankings released today.

The 2022 edition of the magazine’s “Best Colleges” guidebook ranks Bluffton 31 among 76 comparable institutions in 12 Midwest states. Now listed in the “U.S. News” rankings for 24 consecutive years, Bluffton has consistently ranked in the top tier of Midwest colleges.

BLUFFTON, Ohio— Marathana Prothro, assistant professor of communication at Bluffton University, has been named a Designing Your Life certified coach. 

As an instructor for Bluffton’s Becoming a Scholar class, Prothro incorporates a design thinking pedagogical approach within the curriculum for Bluffton’s first-year students. This curriculum methodology was originally developed by Stanford University and modified for Bluffton’s use. It helps students build a framework for and a deeper understanding of their college experience. 

Brass quintet Cleveland Brass Works will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16 in Bluffton University’s Yoder Recital Hall. The concert serves as a welcome back for the community after campus was closed to the public during the 2020-21 academic year. Seating is first come, first served and doors will open at 7 p.m. Masks are required inside campus buildings.

Cleveland Brass Works has performed at venues including concert halls, music festivals and corporate events, and provides a unique approach to a brass quintet concert.

Bluffton University will host a College Fair from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, in Sommer Center. Representatives from more than 30 colleges and universities from Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky will be on campus.

Tours of Bluffton’s campus will be offered to families who are interested. 

Bluffton University is joining a grant-funded initiative to streamline the transfer process so community college students are better able to earn bachelor’s degrees in English, psychology or biology.

New York Times Bestselling author and World Fantasy Award winner Tobias Buckell is joining the Bluffton University English department this fall. Buckell will serve as an instructor of English.

A 2000 Bluffton graduate, Buckell's 13 novels and more than 80 stories have been translated into 20 different languages. His work has been nominated for several awards including the Hugo, Nebula, World Fantasy and the Astounding Award for Best New Science Fiction Author.
