The truth behind 'natural' energy beverages

Today’s world is a busy one. Our lives are even busier. It’s natural to crave an energy boost to help you get more done. But can some energy boosts have negative health effects?

Coffee is an ever-popular go-to. Tea is big among those who don’t prefer coffee. And energy drinks have been gaining popularity for some time now. But newer to the market is the so-called “all-natural energy beverage.”

Bluffton Pediatrics is now open in its new home at 122 N. Jackson St., across from the elementary school. An open house, originally set for May, has moved to Friday, June 14, according to Beth Bish. Watch the Icon for more details coming soon.

Burger King restaurant closes on SR 103

Bluffton is no longer the home of the Whopper.

Burger King, 499 State Route 103, closed its doors on Sunday and will not reopen. On Wednesday the signage from the Bluffton restaurant was being removed.

Tony Kropowski, Carrol’s district manager, confirmed the restaurant closed but did not provide the Icon with any additional information.

The restaurant owner, Carrols Corp., housed in Syracuse, New York, owns and operates over 1,000 restaurants under the Burger King brand, according to its website.

Specialty shop open weekends through Fathers Day

R Coop, 2168 Road R, Bluffton, opens for its fourth season on Friday, May 10, according to Jane Shaw.

The specialty shop is open Fridays and Saturdays now through Father’s Day weekend (June 14-15).

Weekend hours are:
• Fridays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Saturdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Shoppers will find an assortment of repurposed finds that Shaw has discovered from antique shops, flea markets, garage sales and many other sources.
