Citizens National Bank invites Icon viewers to enter a recipe that would be great to serve in the oval bowl in the photo accompanying this story.

One recipe will be chosen at each CNB office to win the bowl and a $20 local grocery gift certificate. Cookbooks can be requested or you will receive one automatically when you submit a recipe.

Winners will be chosen by Dec. 2 and cookbooks will be distributed electronically by Dec. 16.

Village Cut & Curl Dec. 10 Cut-a-thon supports Relay

Village Cut & Curl, 212 Cherry St., Bluffton, is planning a a Cut-a-thon on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help raise money for Bluffton Relay for Life.

Lynda Best said, "If you bring in a canned good (for the Bluffton food pantry) you will get a discount. We also will be having a discount on feather extensions that day also."

The Dough Hook ready for third annual food drive - Nov. 15-19

The Dough Hook, 117 N. Main St., Bluffton, is planning its third annual "Cans for Cookies Drive," according to owners John and Sharon Calvelage.

Here's how it works: During the week of Tuesday, Nov. 15, to Saturday, Nov. 19, customers who bring in canned items get a cookie for each item donated.

"Bring in 12 items and get a dozen free cookies," says Sharon.

All donated food will be given to the Bluffton Food Pantry. The Dough Hook's hours are Tuesday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. It's phone number is 419-369-4264.

BB investments and Beyond Budgeting: Economic Briefing 2011 set Nov. 15 in town hall

BB Investments and Beyond Budgeting will hold an Economic Briefing 2011 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the third floor of the Bluffton town hall, according to Beth A. Boehr.

Robert Ostrander, president, Centerpoint Life Planning and Savings Without Sacrifice, is the presenter.

Following the briefing, for those interested in attending, there will be a reception with refreshments at Beyond Budgeting/BB Investments, 119 Vine St., Bluffton. That will include a question-answer session with Ostrander.

Shirley's Popcorn customer appreciate day extends into Sunday

Due to the huge demand, Shirley's Gourmet Popcorn Co., will extend its Customer Appreciation Day to Sunday, according to Pete and Kim Suter.

Sunday's hours are noon to 6 p.m. Customers who purchase $10 or more at Shirley's receive a $5 gift card. Several great give aways take place all day long.
