FROM ADA ICON - Ada and the surrounding communities are invited to the ONU Observatory on Friday, April 13, from 9-11 p.m. for "The Galaxies of Spring," according to Dr. Jason Pinkney, observatory director.

"Galaxies are a swirling collection of stars, gas, dust, and dark matter. They are generally difficult to see with telescopes because they are so far away and faint.  During this time of the year, however, the closest concentrations of galaxies are positioned high in the sky by midnight," he said.

 ArtSpace/Lima, 65-67 Town Square, Lima, will host an opening reception for Spring Show 2018 on Friday, April 20, 6:30-8:30 p.m.  The reception is free and open to the public, according to Bill Sullivan, director.

Spring Show 2018 is the 63rd  edition of ArtSpace’s signature exhibit. Entries are accepted from within a 100-mile radius of Lima in the following categories:  painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, digital art and mixed media. 

"Emma! A pop musical" presented by BHS this weekend

Girls just want to have fun,  Chapel of love, Heartbreaker, and more pop tunes than you can name are performed on the middle school stage Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It's all part of the Bluffton High School musical "Emma! A Pop Musical!" performed this weekend on the middle school stage.

Apollo Career Center, 3325 Shawnee Rd. Lima, will hold its sixth annual Apollopalooza on Thursday, April 12, from 5:30-7 p.m.

Bluffton girl scouts troop 20402 (4th grade) will hold a spaghetti dinner at the Pandora's Lunch Box, 200 E. Main St., Pandora, on Friday, May 4, the from 5-7 p.m.

Tickets are available from the scouts or can pick them up at Scoreboard  Sportswear, 111 N. Main St., Bluffton, or at Pandora's Lunch Box.

The money raised will go toward the scouts 2019 summer trip to Pennsylvania.

Sunday afternoon at Maple Crest

Author Myrna Grove will be the featured speaker at the Swiss Community Historical Society (SCHS) spring meeting at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 8.

Her talk, "Legacy of One-Room Schools" will be held in the patio room at Maple Crest, 700 Maple Crest Court, Bluffton. The event is free and open to the public; donations are welcome.

As an elementary school teacher for the Bryan City Schools, Grove enjoyed re-enacting the one-room school experience with her students at area one-room schools.
