Sunday, June 4, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bluffton Relay for Hope will hold a picnic on the lawn from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, June 4, on the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn, according to Lynda Best.

The event includes grilled hamburger or hot dog, potato salad, chips and cookies for $6. Drinks are also available and are extra.

All proceeds benefit the Relay for Hope taking place Friday, June 23, at BFR. Pre-sale picnic tickets are on sale at Village Cut 'n' Curl or RSVP  at www.facebook.com/blufftonpc.

The Blanchard River Watershed Partnership is sponsoring a river clean-up in Ottawa on Saturday, May 20. 

Volunteers interested in helping remove trash and debris from the river are invited to meet at Arrow Head Park, 615 West Main St., Ottawa, at 9 a.m. The event ends at noon. 

Buckets, trash containers and drinking water will be provided.  Volunteers are asked to bring their own personal protective gear for working along the riverbank. Additional information can be found at www.blanchardriver.org.

The Hancock Park District provided the Icon with its June through August calendar of events. The calendar is in the attachment provided.

Saturday, June 3, at Bluffton Golf Club

Bluffton American Legion Post 382 hosts its 8th annual golf scramble, Saturday, June 3, at the Bluffton Golf Club, 8575 Dixie Highway.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and tee time starts at 9 a.m. Cost to play is $50 per person or $200 per team. Registration includes green fees and cart, steak dinner and door prizes.

Several contests take place including:
• Longest drive
• Closest to the pin
• Closest to the rope
• Wagering on par 3
• Skins game
• Mulligan

It's McTeacher's Night on Tuesday

Bluffton PTO is having a McTeacher's Night from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, at the Bluffton McDonald's. A portion of all sales are donated to Bluffton Elementary.

And, 25 percent of all Pirate Shakes (strawberry shakes) sold will be donated ot the school.

A classroom attendance contest takes place and the winning class receives free McFlurries.

The elementary receives 100 percent of tips received. There's a prize for the grade level with the most tips.

Happy Meals sell for $1.99 during the event.

Brainstorming session in town hall at 7 p.m.

Transition Bluffton invites the public to its idea-raising launch party from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, in the Bluffton town hall, 154 N. Main St.

In addition to its launch party, the event is a brainstorm session for future events and project by the group. Cake will be served. This event celebrates the creation of Transition Bluffton, an organization that is bringing people together to build sustainability in Bluffton and beyond.
