BFR-YFC benefit tournament in Pandora

Bluffton Family Recreation teams up with Bluffton-Pandora Youth for Christ for a double-elimination coed softball tournament held in the Pandora Park. The event is Saturday, June 24, beginning at 9 a.m.

There is room for eight teams in this second annual tournament.

In addition, the event includes a home run derby and yard games and picnic for families. The cost is $250 per team. Games start at 9 a.m.

All proceeds from the tourney go to both YFC and BFR.

At BFR on Mondays, Wednesdays and Frdays

Bluffton Family Recreation, 2015 Snider Road, Bluffton, starts its summer Healthway SilverSneakers Fitness program this month, according to Joseph Beagle of BFR.

The program is for older adults and involves regular physical activity.

Each class session lasts 45 minutes held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11:15 a.m. at BFR.

Classes start on June 5 - led by Matt Gillett

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) classes begin on Monday, June 5, at Bluffton Family Recreation.

Matt Gillett leads the sessions that take place at 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.

The first two weeks are free.

Classes include a series of high intensity workshops that burn more fat quickly in a shorter time, according to Gillett.

The classes are for persons who require advanced training in this area.

Silver Sneakers pickleball is coming to Bluffton Family Recreation on Thursday mornings in June.

Play takes place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director.

Pickleball is free for Silver Sneakers members, and $2 for non-Silver Sneakers members.

Registration for 5-7-year-olds underway at BFR

Bluffton Family Recreation is now accepting registrations for T-ball, a sport played later this summer.

T-ball is for youth ages 5 to 7 and play takes place from July 11 to Aug. 10. Games are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Bluffton village park.

T-ball is open to boys and girls. It is a learning league experience. Players will develop hitting off tee, throwing and catching skills with intramural team play.

Cost to play for BFR members is $30; $40 for non-members.

June 17 at Howe Tennis Courts

Bluffton Family Recreation will hold a women’s tennis tournament on Saturday, June 17.

The tournament takes place in Bluffton at the Howe Tennis Courts on East College Avenue, across from Harmon Field.

The tournament has the following divisions:
• High School - doubles division: Championship and B (pro set)
• High School - singles division: A and B
• Adult – doubles division: Championship (combined age must be 70)

Entry fee is $25 for first entry and $15 for second. Entry deadline is Monday, June 12.
