Fred Suter talks at Grace Mennonite on Feb. 24

Pandora native Fred Suter will is a guest speaker at Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora, on Sunday, Feb. 24. He will speak at a 6:30 p.m. program.

Suter is a former Mennonite Central Committee volunteer with the PAX program. He will talk about his work with getting fresh clean water to a hospital at the former African Inter-Mennonite Mission station of Ndjoko Pundo in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Bluffton women take down Yellow Jackets 62-47 on Senior night

The Bluffton University women’s basketball team was able to earn revenge against their arch-rivals on Wednesday, Feb. 13. The Beavers were defeated 54-32 in Defiance in their first meeting against the Yellow Jackets back on January 2.

However, Bluffton was able to turn the tables and defeat Defiance, 62-47, in a game they never trailed in the Sommer Center on Wednesday night. Bluffton also honored its lone senior, Lauren Hutton (New Riegel), on Senior Night prior to the contest.

The Beavers welcomed Defiance College to the Sommer Center on Wednesday, Feb. 13, desperately needing a win to keep their conference tournament hopes alive.

A dominating inside presence coupled with a career-high 12 assists from Ryan Ebbeskotte (Ft. Jennings/Delphos Jefferson) sent the Beavers to a 75-55 victory over their biggest rivals on Senior Night, helping seniors Tyler Neal (Bluffton), Josh Fisher (Rockford/Parkway) and Matt Gerdeman (Delphos/Jefferson) end their home career in victorious fashion.

Jim Alt celebrates 90th birthday on Feb. 15

Jim Alt will celebrate his 90th birthday on Feb. 15. He and his wife, Ursula, are parents of Kathy (Chuck) Sehlhorst, Beth (Jim) Yarger, Jeff (Deb) Alt, Jerry (Sheila) Alt, Joe (Tina) Alt,  and Jenny (Jason) Swartzlander Jim as 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs sets 2013 board committee appointments

Bluffton Center for Entrepreneur's board committee appointments for 2013 were released this week by Brendon Matthews, board president.

Donald Fultz had been owner of Fultz Sign Co. and Fulco Industries

Donald E. Fultz, 75, died Feb. 13, 2013 at his residence. He was born May 11, 1937 in Lima to the late Eugene V. and Rosetta (Gorham) Fultz.  On Dec. 16, 1966, he married Nancy Packer and she survives.

Mr. Fultz had been the owner/operator of Fultz Sign Company and Fulco Industries. He had also worked at Shellar Globe and Superior Coach.  He was a member of English Lutheran Church, Bluffton. He was actively involved in the Lima Beane Chorus and the Wood Shedder’s Group. He had also been a houseparent for the Allen County Children’s Home.
