Two photographs taken by Jamie Nygaard of Bluffton will be part of an ArtSpace/Lima juried photography exhibit in January. One of the photos received second place in the miscellaneous category.
The photo titles are “Searching for Hamlet,” (second place award), and Beneath the Bridge.
An opening exhibit reception is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, at ArtSpace, 65 Town Square, Lima. The exhibit runs through Saturday, Feb. 9.
Bob Painter, who for the past 15 years has served as assistant director of the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, is retiring, according to Tonya Meyer, director.
The Center will recognize Painter for his years at the center with a retirement party from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 27. The party, open to the public, takes place at the Senior Center, 132 N. Main St.
Lay leaders, youth groups, Sunday school classes, families, retirees and young adults are needed to assist with worship services and Bible Studies at Mennonite Memorial Home and Maple Crest Senior Living Village, Bluffton.
Opportunities at Mennonite Memorial Home include:
• Assisting residents getting to and from worship services
• Leading a worship service
• Leading the music at a worship service
Kaitlyn Clymer is the Bluffton Icon's Bluffton High School artist of the month. She is a BHS senior and has taken the following art classes: Art One, Design, Design two, Photography, Advanced Photography, Mural.
"I get my love for art from another talented artist, my mom," she said.
"I think I enjoy it so much because the possibilities are endless of what you can make. I can create something in my head and make it into a physical copy for everyone to see, which is the wildest thing to me."
