Did you ever see a dinosaur at a car show?
Some of the cars at the County Line Church of the Brethren on Saturday dated back to 1929, but not to the age of the Giant Monsters. However, Bryan Counts of Spencerville is really into dinosaurs as is evident on the inside and outside of his 1977 Ford. (See his photo at bottom of story)
Members of the Bluffton Pandora Area Gardeners will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the home of Victoria Zeits for a leaf casting project.
According to the club newsletter:
"The castings make good accents to gardens. If you do not want to participate in the mud slinging you can come and watch or take a walk through Victoria’s gardens, they are always interesting to look at.
"Victoria has some different things that she plants and I think that if you look at something before you try it."
Linda Baumann will be installed as a new third and fourth grade teacher in Trinity Lutheran School, Jenera, during the July 9 worship service at Triinity Lutheran Church.
On July 1, retired Bluffton University math professor, Luther Shetler will have time to ponder the number 100 and all its meanings.
He was born July 1, 1917.
Originally from Indiana where he grew up on a dairy farm, Luther accepted a math teaching position at Bluffton College in 1950. He and his wife, Geneva, brought their family to Bluffton where he taught countless students in his academic discipline for 34 years, retiring in 1984.
Kathleen Mikkelsen has a special birthday next week.
And, her only regret is that her twin sister, Geraldine, who died a few years ago, isn’t here to celebrate it with her.
On July 3, Kathleen, a Mennonite Memorial home resident, turns 100.
She grew up on South Main Street Bluffton and graduated in the BHS class of 1935. The class had 75 members. Although in 1939 she married and moved from Bluffton, she never left home.
