Bluffton High School seniors and underclasses were recognized May 11 at the 36th annual high school awards program.

Awards were presented to senior receiving college scholarships, athletic awards and to students who were outstanding in individual classes.

A program listing all of the students recognized is an attachment at the bottom of this story.

Diller was a charter member of the foundation, having served along with Eugene Benroth, Harold Balmer and Jean and Morris Triplett, beginning in 1985 until his retirement from the board last year.

Not only did Diller give 29 years of service the foundation, but he provided office space and secretarial service at no cost, as well as serving for many years as the foundation treasurer.

Rachel Woodruff, daughter of David and Margie Woodruff, Bluffton, was awarded the Newcomb Scholar award at Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences recognition program in April.

The award recognizes five students with the highest academic ranking in each grade level within the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, the School of Environment and Natural Resources and the Agricultural Technical Institute.

Remember field day?

This year's, on May 11, was like all the others. In the Icon's mind, Danielle Cross, Bluffton third grader, won the jump rope competition (even though there wasn't a competition).

Watch as she jumps rope 100 times. She could have continued, but stopped at the magic number.

The Bluffton Junior High string orchestra and Bluffton sixth grade string orchestra both received Superior ratings at OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Event at Parkway High School on Friday, May.
