Four Deuces Car Club
holds Hilty Home Cruise-in

Hilty Home, Pandora, will host a cruise-in from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 30, at the retirement home, 304 Hilty Drive, Pandora.

The event, sponsored by Four Deuces Car Club of Ottawa, is open to hot rods, customs and classic vehicles. Registration and admission is free.

A “Residents’ Choice” award will be presented. For more details call Jane at 419-523-5663.

In early June Hilty Home residents Wayne Shafer and Harold Agner were able to take part in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., to tour the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial and other memorials.

Don Burris, Director of Environmental Services at Hilty Home, served as a Guardian on the trip.

Lunch was served across the street from the World War II Memorial. After the tour ended, the group was welcomed at the Toledo Airport by family and friends and received letters of appreciation.

Gardeners of the Bluffton Pandora Area will tour the Ray Person Co-op Garden at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 7.

Marlin Gerber will have 10 pound boxes of Michigan blueberries available in Bluffton on Tuesday, July 7  at 12:30 p.m.

The deadline for orders is Sunday, July 5.

Gerber said that there are about six rounding quarts of berries in 10 pounds and the cost is $25 per box.

Orders may be picked up in the parking area behind Bluffton University’s Houshower House between 12:30 and 2 p.m. on July 7

Halle Steingass graduated from Bluffton High School in 2012 and has spent the past five weeks studying abroad in England and Italy. We got the chance to talk with her when she returned home.

Where are you attending school now and what are you studying?
I am attending Goshen College in northern Indiana, studying social work and music.

Icon viewers know that art abounds in Bluffton.

Several artist elders at Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio proved that fact through their winning efforts in the LeadingAge 2015 Northwest District Art and Writing Show held June 18 at Mennonite Memorial Home.
