When Marlena Ballinger, co-owner of The Dough Hook, began to plan Bluffton University Day at her store, she envisioned selling sugar cookies decorated in purple and white, the colors of her soon-to-be alma mater. And she knew exactly who to call for help in decorating the cookies.

Ballinger invited the students in her Bluffton Cohort-based Organizational Management (BCOMP) cohort - a group of nine adults who had spent nearly every Wednesday night during the past two years as they completed their bachelor's degrees.

Two members of the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center will receive life memberships at the Association’s May dinner meeting. The two are Louise Reichenbach and Carolyn Green.

Wendy Chappell Dick will perform during the dinner meeting. The dinner is at 6 p.m., Monday, May 12, and tickets must be purchased by May 7. Tickets are $7 each.

Schnipke Inn, Ottawa, will cater the meal, which includes barbecue pulled pork, au gratin potatoes, green beans, apple sauce, buttered rolls and chocolate mousse.

Long live the king and the queen. While Bluffton High School's junior-senior prom goes back many decades, so does the prom king and queen tradition. This year's prom, held at The Centre on April 26, followed the years-old pattern.

This year's royality go to Tyler Belcher and Kit-Ann Knisley. The couple is in the photograph accompanying this story. A second photo of the couple, during their crowning ceremony, is posted in the photo gallery below. The prom king and queen are selected by a vote from members of the senior class.
