15 minutes with Courtney Frederick - interviewed by Donald Ring, Icon summer intern

Let's start off with the basics: growing up, what schools did you attend and graduate from?
Growing up I was a little all over the place, kindergarten at Columbus Grove, first to10th grade in Bluffton, and 11th and 12th in Pandora-Gilboa. I graduated in 2006 from Pandora-Gilboa.

A birthday card shower is planned for Bonnie "Marie" Bourquin, a Mennonite Memorial Home resident, Bluffton, who turns 100 on July 5.

The soon-to-be centenarian was born in Columbus Grove to Ray and Floyd Bogart. She grew up on a farm on Road 12 0, between Columbus Grove and Kalida.

On June 5, 1938, she married Gladwin Bourquin, who died in 2002.

She worked in Toledo and then Michigan. After marrying her husband, who was from Archbold, the couple eventually lived at 213 N. High St., Columbus Grove.

Brandon Anspach, an Ohio Northern University senior mechanical engineering major from Rawson, was a member of the ONU Baja SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) team that finished fifth overall at Baja SAE Wisconsin 2012, held June 7-10 at the MGA Research Corporation Proving Grounds in Burlington, Wis.

The event featured 95 colleges and universities and was sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

"Music and Mind-Benders" was the theme for the Maple Crest Men's Banquet, held on June 19.

The music was provided by folk-singer/storyteller Joseph Helfrich, known as "Joseph." His program included a variety of instruments, from the banjo to the bag pipes, and his humorous songs and stories kept the crowd in an up-beat mood.

"Joseph" felt like a "boy coming home" as he found himself in the company of three former professors from his Bluffton College days - Stan Clemens (guest) and residents Luther Shetler and Burton Yost.

Bluffton residents and ONU faculty members Dr. John K. Estell, professor of computer engineering and computer science, and Dr. John-David Yoder, chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department, are co-authors of a paper presented at the 2012 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Annual Conference, held June 10-13 in San Antonio, Texas.

Estell and Yoder along with Dr. Briana Morrison of Southern Polytechnic State University and Dr. Fong Mak of Gannon University, presented the paper.
