Artist Vincent Van Gogh's name and works are alive and well in the Bluffton seventh grade art program this spring, taught by Nicole Anderson.
Eariler this year art students created a "group grid" drawing of Vincent Van Gogh's "Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear," originally created in 1889. In that project each student received a small piece of a painting by Van Gogh. The goal was to duplicate and enlarge the smaller piece using oil pastels.
Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO), a Bluffton retirement community that offers a continuum of care, has begun negotiations with the East Central District-Missionary Church with respect to the future operation, management and ownership of Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. Bluffton University retired football coach Carlin Carpenter recently entertained the Maple Crest Senior Living group known as "Men-N-Friends" with some of Carpenters own songs and stories.
Arriving in a comfortable-looking pair of jeans and a denim shirt, he claimed that by the time he was done with his one-man show, everyone present would love country music.
Carpenter told a story to the group that he once surprised even himself ago by winning first place at a Brown Derby Town Contest in Dallas, Texas, during a football coach convention.

You are not in Bluffton anymore. However, that's Dave Sycks, Bluffton band director on the podium.
In late March the Bluffton Junior High Band traveled to Riverdale for an exchange concert.
"The day was spent rehearsing with each other's band director, rehearsing on our own, rehearsing together, playing some 'get to know you' games and performing a joint concert for Riverdale's elementary students," said Sycks.
The Riverdale director is Beth Voll, also from Bluffton.
