Jane Sycks will give a piano recital at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, in the sanctuary of the Bluffton Presbyterian Church.
Pieces to be played include Toccata by Khachaturian, Prelude by Bach, Moonshadows on the Mountain by Jennifer Lian, Pavanne by Martin Gould, the Haydn Sonata, March Wind by MacDowell and Debussy's Clair de Lune.
Bluffton native Matthew Schweingruber, was one of 23 New York City public school teachers who recently received Outstanding Educator of the Year awards sponsored by Education Update.
Schweingruber, a Bluffton High School graduate and son of Don and Nancy Schweingruber, is a teacher at Public School 28, Manhattan.
On behalf of the Village of Bluffton, the Blufton Area Chamber of Commerce, and the American Legion, the S.H.A.N.N.O.N. (Sharing Hopes And Nourishing Needs Of Neighbors) Service Club of Bluffton gives a thank you for the the 2011 Main Street Flag Project.
Amy J. Leach has been named the director of marketing and public relations for Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS). She will lead and oversee the Health System's marketing and public relations efforts, including advertising, media relations, community awareness and internal communication.
"We are delighted to welcome Amy to our team," said Chris Press, president of Blanchard Valley Hospital and Bluffton Hospital. "We are pleased to have found an individual whose energy and talent matches the culture here at BVHS and in our community."

What grade were you in when you moved to Bluffton?
I was in fourth. Mr. Kooker was my teacher. Before coming to Bluffton my family lived in Belgium Congo. I attended first, second and third grades there. I spoke English and a little Lingala dialect. I think the first person I remember in Bluffton was Miss Meredith Stepleton, the elementary principal.
