Busy month for Bluffton police - Here's the report

-Police arrested Conrad Zemba Jr for DUS following a traffic stop on Jefferson St. The case is pending in Lima Municipal Court.
June 2
-Officers took a theft report from a Hancock County resident.
-Officers responded to a Citizens Pkwy. business in regards to unknown persons stealing items that were on an outdoor display.
June 3
-Officers assisted in the investigation of a fire at a manufacturing plant on Jefferson St.

Tractor-trailer fire in Beaverdam

Here is a photo taken of a tractor-trailer fire by Jeff Laing this morning at 5:25 a.m. at the Beaverdam Interstate 75 exit. The Icon does not have any other detail of the fire at this time.

Bluffton fire department responded to 54 calls during the first half of 2012

The years 2011 and 2012 are very similar, according to the chart showing calls to the Bluffton Fire Department.

On Monday, Jon Kinn, fire chief, provided Bluffton council with a 2012 six-month fire run report.

During the first six months of 2011 the department responded to 53 calls. For the same time period of 2012, it responded to 54 calls.

Hancock Sheriff's Office has increased patrols July 3-5

The Hancock County Sheriff's Office is conducting increased patrol from July 3 through July 5 thanks to grant funding from the Ohio Traffic Safety Office, according to Sergeant Matt Kinsinger of the patrol.

Deputies will pay particular attention for violations such as driving under the influence, and failure to yield and speeding; all of which are leading actors in fatal crashes. There will be zero tolerance for driving under the influence and seat belt violations.

-A debit card was found on the street and turned in to the Police Department.

-A Carey resident reported losing his wallet while at the Shannon Theater.

May 5
-A Riley St. resident filed a missing juvenile report after her child did not return home the previous evening.
-Police were notified of a suspicious male hanging around the Buckeye Park. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the person who was described.
