Council insurance committee meets June11

The Bluffton council's Insurance Committee will meet Monday, June 11, at 7:30 p m. in the town hall, according to Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator.

Summer mosquito spraying underway on Wednesday nights

Mosquito spraying in Bluffton started last week, according to Jamie Mehaffie, Bluffton village administrator. In his report to be made during Tuesday's Bluffton council meeting, he will note that spraying is scheduled on Wednesday evenings as needed, weather permitting.

Thursday spraying is the backup option to Wednesday. The village service department is handling the spraying. It is using a product called Duet.

Bluffton school board will act on four teacher resignations at the May 21 board meeting. Teachers resigning or retiring are:

Apollo levy will be on Bluffton school district November ballot

The Apollo Career Center Board of Education voted on May 14 to accept $22 million in Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC) funds to repair, remodel and upgrade current technology, infrastructure and academic classroom space.

That decision begins the process of determining the scope of the project, and millage to place on the Bluffton Exempted School District's November ballot. Bluffton is part of the Apollo district.

Proposed school rating system tightens school's grades - but Bluffton would still rise to the top

Bluffton schools - one of 17 in Ohio.

A new proposed rating system for Ohio school districts will make it much more difficult for districts to obtain the top rating of an "A," according to Greg Denecker, Bluffton superintendent.

Writing in the spring Bluffton Exempted Village Schools newsletter, Denecker, writes that last year 352 fo the 609 school districts in Ohio obtained either an "Excellent" or "Excellent with Disctinction" designation.
