West Elm Street work begins Oct. 8

The following Bluffton council committee meetings were announced at Monday's council meeting.

Sept. 11 - Tree commission, 7 p.m.
Sept. 17 - Utilities committee, 1 p.m.
Sept. 24 - Utilities committee, 6:30 p.m.

Ohio registered voters have received absentee balloting material from the Ohio Secretary of State’s office for the Tuesday, Nov. 6, general election.

To request an absentee ballot, simply complete the attached application and return it to your county board of elections as far in advance of the election as possible.

During the absentee voting period you may visit your county board of elections or designated early vote center to vote in person.

14th annual event is Sept. 22 in many locations around town

The Bluffton community’s 14th annual Fall Festival, with many family-oriented activities, takes place throughout the community on Saturday, Sept. 22, according to Daren Lee of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, who coordinates the festival. 

All activities are free unless otherwise designated. Food and other items are available for purchase at multiple locations. 

Grave marking services on Saturday for Hezekiah Hubbell and Israel Hubbard, Jr.

Two grave marking services for Revolutionary War veterans buried in the Bluffton and Pandora communities takes place on Saturday.

The two are Hezekiah Bloomfield Hubbell, buried in Hubbell Cemetery on Shifferly Road, rural Bluffton, and Israel Hubbard, Jr., buried in Malahan Cemetery, rural Pandora.

The Northwest Territory Chapter of the Ohio Society, Sons of the American Revolution, will conduct the services at the cemeteries, according to David Lupien of Bryan, the secretary of the chapter.

Although August 2018 was warmer than average, the temperature ranged 36 degrees from the low point to the high, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.
