Bluffton schools received a “B” on its report card covering the 2017-18 school year from the Ohio Department of Education. No area school received an "A."
“Overall, we are very pleased with our report card as a district,” Greg Denecker, Bluffton superintendent, told the Icon.
“We will continue to work hard to maintain and improve our scores. Our report card continues to be a reflection of the combined effort of our students, teachers, staff, parents and community as all work together in an effort to foster a positive educational environment.
A “Feed Bluffton” Scotch double tournament at Southgate Lanes held earlier this year generated an approximate donation of $3,700 to the Bluffton Community Assistance Program’s food pantry, according to Ed Yeager, president of the assistance program board.
Bluffton Diesel Service sponsored the food drive, in conjunction with Southgate Lanes.
The donation was broken down into a $1,400 cash donation and $2,300 in food purchases to the food pantry.

Thousands of visitors will come to Bluffton’s downtown shopping district for the Blaze of Lights on Saturday, Nov. 24, when celebrations include a parade, live entertainment, a lighting ceremony and festive activities.

Bluffton council’s street improvement program focuses on East Jefferson Street in 2019.
The driving force of the focus is because Ohio Department of Transportation will replace the Jefferson Street bridge next year.
Two village improvements are set for the street from Main Street to the County Line Road, as explained by Jesse Blackburn, village administrator, during the Sept. 10 Bluffton council meeting.
He said that agreements for engineering were received from Choice One Engineering. Those agreements create plans for two phases.

Let the window decorating and float planning begin. The theme for this year's Blaze of Lights is the 12 Days of Christmas.
