The following are note from an interview Fred Steiner conducted several years ago with Rolland Stratton concerning Bluffton’s celebration of the conclusion of World War I.
Stratton remembers:
I was a 7-year-old boy in November 1918. We lived at 118 E. Elm St., where I was born. On Nov. 11, I remember coming out of the house and every bell in town was ringing and the fire whistle at the light plant was blowing.
For the first time, the Ohio Holiday Lights Trail will lead travelers to Bluffton’s Blaze of Lights, which includes the Ream folk art display, downtown holiday lights, and residential lights.
Bluffton's return to the Heartland Conference tournament in 2017-18 after a two-year hiatus has the Beavers excited to hit the hardwood when the season kicks off on November 16. Gone is All-HCAC point guard Kevin Christie who poured in 17.7 PPG to go along with his team-best 116 assists, but a freshmen crew that jumped into the fray right away is ready to show that last year was far from a fluke as Head Coach Guy Neal gears up for year 30 at the helm!
Dr. Jane Wood, Bluffton University president, shared a vision for the university’s future and told about graduate success during her address at Friday morning's Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast.
Focusing on three “momentum makers,” Dr. Wood shared areas involving academics, student engagement and athletics.
“Over the next 12 to 18 months we will highlight these three areas as what we believe makes us stand out,” she said, based upon a summer planning retreat with the university cabinet.

A new flyover ramp, which will carry I-75 southbound traffic onto U.S. 68/state Route 15 or to Lima Avenue, will replace the existing loop ramp. The new ramp is referred to as a flyover because the ramp is carried over I-75 traffic to make the connection to U.S. 68/state Route 15 or Lima Avenue.
