Students at Bluffton Middle School have collected non-perishable goods for the Bluffton Food Pantry since November, according to Robin Ault, middle school teacher.
On Wednesday morning Bluffton University baseball team members picked up the items collected and delivered them to the food pantry at St. John's UCC.
Each of the grades, 6-8 had a goal of 500 items, but all exceeded this goal. The 6th grade collected 517, 7th grade collected 1,012, and 8th grade donated 982 items. This is a grand total of 2,511 items.
Bluffton Farmers' Market vendors held their annual Christmas gathering, a carry-in dinner with a side of business on Dec. 12.
Some 40 vendors and family members enjoyed a delicious meal that included many homegrown and homemade foods, discussed the 2017 market season and made a donation to the community that hosts them.
Vendors expressed their appreciation for Citizens National Bank, which provides the parking lot space used by the market at 102 S. Main St.
The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, on Thursday, Dec. 14, from 1-6 p.m.

First Mennonite is located at 101 S. Jackson St., Bluffton. Donors should enter by the Jackson Street entrance directly across from Bluffton Elementary School. An elevator is located at that entrance.
Over a 12-month period there's nothing in Bluffton that quite compares to the Bluffton elementary Christmas concert.
Place all Kindergarteners through fifth graders in the east side bleachers of the high school gym. Fill the floor with seats. Open the doors about 60+ minutes prior to the concert and before you know it, it is standing room only.
