Northwest Ohio – Wildlife District Two
In August, State Wildlife Officer Michele Butler, assigned to Erie County, patrolled the shoreline of Sandusky Bay. She observed an angler on a pier throw a beverage can into the water after finishing it. Officer Butler contacted the fisherman and issued him a citation for littering. He pleaded no contest in Sandusky Municipal Court and paid $145 in fines and court costs.
Weather permitting, work will continue on Bluffton roads during the week of October 23, according to ODOT District 1 announcements:
State Route 103, Main St. and Jefferson St. in the village of Bluffton, between Bentley Road and Interstate 75 will have lane restrictions for resurfacing.
State Route 103/Jefferson Streetbetween County Line Road and Commerce Lane in the village of Bluffton will have lane restrictions and shoulder work until mid-December for the construction of a shared-use path. The work includes storm improvements, a sidewalk extension, lighting, and other roadway safety improvements.
Pandora-Gilboa Local Schools are cancelled for Friday, 10-20-23 due to a water main break.
The building is closed, no staff should report. This is a Remote Learning Day.
National School Bus Safety Week begins today, October 16, and runs through Friday, October 20. During this week, the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be increasing enforcement efforts on school bus violations. These violations include passing a stopped school bus, school zone violations and other school bus or school zone-related activity.
LIMA__The Lima-Allen County Safe Community Coalition reports there were zero fatal traffic crashes on Allen County roadways during September 2023.
Thus far, there have been a total of 7 fatalities on Allen County roadways due to traffic crashes in 2023. In comparison, during 2022 there were 9 fatal crashes through August.
