Bluffton Airport terminal now officially Dottie Anderson Terminal

The writing is on the wall.

In 2016 the Bluffton Airport Advisory Commission requested the village to name the Bluffton Airport terminal as the Dottie Anderson Terminal. That request was approved and the sign is now on the terminal.

Anderson, a lifelong pilot at Bluffton Flying Services, died Dec. 8, 2012.

She graduated from Bluffton High School and Bowling Green State University. She began her flying career as a pilot of small aircraft while still in her teens and at one time built her own plane, a Pitts Special.

Choice One Engineering, Sydney, handling the study

Bluffton residents have a chance to get an update on the State Route 103 corridor safety study this week. A public meeting is at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, July 6, in the town hall. (The Icon earlier incorrectly listed the meeting as taking place on Wedneday)

This is a follow-up meeting from one held in February. At that time one suggested fix resulting for the corridor totaled $10.4 million. Here's a review of the February study session report

That solution considers solving the following:

The Bluffton Senior Center has a variety of handmade, one of a kind greeting cards to suit any occasion, according to Tonya Meyer, director.

"At just $1.50 per card, sending a unique greeting to a loved one has never been as easy," she said.

The Senior Center, 132 N. Main St., is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4  p.m.

Bluffton’s newest sign will carry our oldest year.

The village has contracted with Kohli and Kaliher Associates of Lima to provide the Ohio Department of Transportation with details, drawings and notes for a new sign on the Bentley Road – Interstate 75 overpass.

Cast in cement, the sign will read: “BLUFFTON est. 1861.”

According to the Lima firm, the letters will be formed into the concrete parapets (walls) and will be painted to stand out from the wall.

The price for this project is not to exceed $5,000. The formation of the sign might be in place by August.
