052887 - The Icon first thought this was a a zip code, but upon further study, we believe the owner of this plate was born on May  28, 2987. We welcome clarification from any Icon view with more information. We spotted this plate on a blue Honda CR-V in Ada. (The monthly renewal sticker confirmed our birthday theory.)

Sand Wand demonstration works like a sweeper on a carpet

Imagine cleaning the Riley with a sweeper that worked under water.

The fork of the Rileys – where the Little Riley meets the Big Riley - was the location of a Sand Wand demonstration earlier this month. The demonstration worked like a sweeper.

The wand enables the clean up of sediment in streams. The village and Blanchard River Watershed Partnership (BRWP) conducted the demonstration.

Photos below show the wand in action.

Summer strings is underway this month, according to Rachael Lewis, Bluffton schools string teacher.

Several classes have already taken place. The remaining summer classes are on Wednesdays June 21, June 28 and July 5.

The program taken place in the elementary strings room and students are welcome to come to as many classes are fit their summer schedule.

Wheels Festival continues to bring classic cars and more downtown on Friday

Fifty years ago Dick Boehr, Gene Benroth and some other downtown merchants had a crazy idea: Let's have an old car. It might bring people to Bluffton.

Fifty years later it continues to take place and continues to bring people to Bluffton.

And, not surprisingly, 50 years later, the cars that are classic today were new in 1967. Who would have thought!

You can except nearly 200 vehicles that grew up on leaded gas to return to Bluffton on Friday, for the 50th Bluffton Festival of Wheels cruise-in, sponsored by the Bluffton Lions.
