AEP meteorologists anticipate severe thunderstorms containing damaging winds the Icon readership area later today. Here's AEP's announcement:
A cold front in Illinois will move into I&M Power just as an upper-level disturbance (now over Missouri) arrives. Ample sunshine & humidity will generate moderate instability by afternoon as temperatures reach the low-mid 80s.
Expect a broken line of severe storms to organize over Indiana midday...then cross eastern I&M Power (Ft. Wayne, Muncie) early this afternoon.
The Blanchard River Watershed Partnership is in the application stage of a $29,930 grant, which if received, will benefit the Middle Riley Creek watershed.
The $29,930 grant, called a Great Lakes Basin mini-grant, is for cost sharing with farmers who use cover crops and conservation tillage in the Middle Riley Creek watershed, according to Phil Martin, watershed director.

Planning is underway for Bluffton’s 11th annual fall festival held Saturday, Sept. 26, according to Daren Lee of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.

Yes, the Farmers Market will return to Ada this summer, but in a new location.
The market will operate from the Railroad Depot parking lot from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays beginning June 4.

There was a question about its operating this year due to new restrictions, regulations and requirements demanded by the Ohio Department of Agriculture, which now oversees farmers markets.
“Due to the recent, current and forecasted weather for the next few days, the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool will not be opening for swimming this Memorial Day weekend," Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, told The Icon today.
The pool office will be open on Saturday, May 23, and Monday, May 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. each day for those interested in purchasing season passes.
The pool is scheduled to open for the season on Friday, May 29. The pool will be open Monday through Friday from 1 to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.
Curling Iron, 129 N. Main St., hosts the Thursday, May 21, Bluffton downtown cash mob. Watch for the "Cash Mob" banner hanging in front of the store as a reminder. Cash mob hours are 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
