It’s true. March came in like a lion and went out like a lamb. According to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer, here’s the March weather report:

The first day that March 2012 experienced a temperature above 39 was on March 7. Prior to that it was all 20s and 30s for highs.

Meanwhile the “low” maximum temperature during the final six days of the month was 40 on March 26. Following that it was all 40s and 50 temperature readings.

The effect of violence in schools in the United States has trickled down to Bluffton. 

Beginning Wednesday, March 27, Bluffton elementary, middle school and high school doors are now locked during school hours. Visitors will be required to "buzz in" to gain entrance into the specific building.

The button at the elementary building is located at the right (north side) of the front entrance. 

To enter the middle school building during school hours, the buzzer is located on the left hand side of the front doors on Jackson Street.

The Bluffton Area Ministerial Association has organized its traditional Good Friday activities for the Bluffton community.

On Good Friday, March 29, all are welcome to the annual Cross Walk. This year the walk begins at English Lutheran Church at 11:30 a.m.

From there the walk proceeds to:

• St. John's United Church of Christ,
• Bluffton Presbyterian,
• First Mennonite,
• First United Methodist
• and ends at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

The Bluffton Exempted Village School District is currently accepting applications from students interested in attending the school district through open enrollment for the 2013 –2014 school year.

Students from any school district in Ohio may apply and enroll in Bluffton Schools tuition free. Students are admitted on a full-time basis only.

Applications are approved annually on a first come, first served basis and approval is subject to grade level enrollment and educational programs.

BFR’s outdoor soccer league for young children will begin Tuesday, April 9, at 6 p.m., according to Carole Enneking of BFR.

Youth who were 4 years of age by Dec. 1, 2012, and under 6 years of age by Aug. 1, 2012, are eligible. Cost is $30 ($15 BFR member) for the four weeks of the league.
