Breastfeeding challenge - Support breastfeeding families Oct. 1

The Allen County WIC program is hosting a "Breastfeeding Challenge" open to all past, present and future breastfeeding mothers and families on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Lima Family YMCA, 345 S. Elizabeth. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the event will last until noon.

This event is part of the Quintessence International Breastfeeding Challenge. On Oct.1, at 11 a.m. mothers and children at sites across Canada, the United States and other countries around the world will compete to set the record for the most children breastfeeding at one time.

Time is short! Bluffton Lions Foundation Corvette raffle held Sept. 24

1996 Corvette with only 22,760 miles

One lucky Corvette fan will drive home in a 1995 torch-red Corvette following a drawing for the vehicle during the Bluffton Fall Festival, according to Richard Ramseyer, president of the Bluffton Lions Foundation. The mint-condition vehicle has only 22,760 miles on it.

A drawing to determine the winner of the Corvette, owned by the Foundation, will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, at Bluffton Family Recreation's gym, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.

BCE annual meeting at town hall celebrates business incubator's third year

On Friday, Sept. 23, the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs (BCE) executive board will conduct a public annual meeting at 7:30

a.m. on the third floor of the Bluffton Town Hall.

Preceded by a catered breakfast, the meeting's agenda will include a summary of 2010 including a financial report and client summary. The board will also elect new officers for board.

BCE board president Brendon Matthews reports that the BCE is
celebrating three full years of providing solutions and support to
local entrepreneurs.

Aug. 30 - Isaiah Noel, son of Sabina Willela and Martrenis Chitman, Leipsic, 19 inches, 6 pounds, 5 ounces.

Sept. 2 - Samantha Emery, daughter of Emily and Andrew Emery, Ada, 20 1.2 inches, 8 pounds, 8 ounces.

Sept. 4 - Ethan Isaiah Cellar, son of Michael Cellar and Stacey Westrick, Leipsic, 20 inches, 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

Sept. 5 - Hilda Sylvia Wheatley McDonnell, daughter of Bryan and Heather McDonnell, Findlay, 20 inches, 9 pounds, 3 ounces.

Alan and Diann Yoder celebrate 50th wedding anniversary

Diann and Alan Yoder

Dr. Alan and Diann Yoder, 174 Sunset Dr., Bluffton, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 17.

The couple was married Sept. 17, 1961, at First Mennonite Church, Berne, Ind., by Rev. John Sprunger.

Diann graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Ft. Wayne, Ind., in 1961. She retired from nursing at Bluffton Hospital and at Family Eye Care Clinic, Bluffton. Alan graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry, Bloomington, Ind., in 1965. He is an optometrist at Family Eye Care Clinic, 107 N. Main St., Bluffton.
