March 21 vs. Otterbein
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Bluffton University baseball team lost a Tuesday matchup against a tough Otterbein unit on March 21 by a final score of 5-3. Bluffton fell to 5-6 on the season while Otterbein continued to roll at 13-3.
On Monday March 20, 2023 the Bluffton Board of Education officially hired Adam Burris as the new Bluffton High School Varsity Girls Basketball Coach.
Coach Burris is replacing Eric Garmatter. He played basketball for, and graduated from, both Bluffton High School and Bluffton University.
Coach Burris brings thirteen years of coaching experience with seven of those years as a Varsity Head Coach. He coached Varsity Girls and Boys at North Baltimore and Varsity Boys at Bath.
Athletic Directo Alex Hanna comments, "We look forward to working with Coach Burris and welcome him back to Bluffton."
AUBURNDALE, Fla.--The Bluffton University softball team finished up its slate of matchups in Florida on Friday, March 10, 2023, coming up short against Edgewood College and Benedictine University out of Illinois. Bluffton closed the week 5-5 as the Beavers prepare to head north.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Desmond Gist (Detroit, Mich./Trenton) capped off his outstanding indoor track and field season with a 15th place finish in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III nationals on Friday, March 10, 2023. Gist and Head Coach Ben Markison made the trip to Birmingam, Ala., and it marked the second straight national meet for Gist who placed 14th in the 110 meter outdoor hurdles last May.
FORT MYERS, Fla.--The Bluffton University baseball team capped off its week in Florida with a split on Saturday, March 11. An 11-0 victory over North Central (Minn.) was the highlight and then the fans were treated to an exciting final game. The Beavers battled all the way to the end, but Muskingum scored in the home ninth for a 12-11 walkoff win. Bluffton stands 4-5 after going 4-4 at the Gene Cusic Classic.
The Bluffton University baseball team rallied from a 6-0 deficit to take down Alvernia 11-9 for Head Coach James Grandey's 300th career victory on Tuesday, March 7. The Beavers evened up their season mark at 2-2 with the historic victory.
Bluffton was trailing 6-0 when the Beavers came to bat in the bottom of the fourth inning. Although Alvernia induced a pair of groundouts to start the inning, Bluffton put together a two-out rally for the ages. Senior Adam Yoh (Milford) singled home Seth Altman (Hilliard/Hilliard Davidson) to crack the seal. Nick Diana (Batavia/West Clermont) was hit by a pitch with the bases juiced and Jake Baumgartner (Toledo/Start) made it 6-4 with his two-run single. A base hit to left center by Justin Maurer (Springfield/Kenton Ridge) plated Diana and Baumgartner and knotted the score at 6-6 after four.
