WAPAKONETA, Ohio⎯More than 500 swimmers and their families will descend on Wapakoneta on July 8-9, 2022 for the 40th annual Elks Invitational Swim Meet and Western Ohio Aquatics League (WOAL) League Championship. League swimmers are ages 4-18 who are members of one of the league’s teams.
The Wapakoneta Community Swimming Pool is the host site for the 2022 Swim Champs. The facility will host eight teams: Ada, Bluffton, Findlay, Kenton, Shawnee Country Club, Wapakoneta, Westside and Van Wert. Teams will compete for the 2022 league title.
Bluffton High School grad Trevor Bassitt has qualified for the 2022 World Championships in the 400 meter hurdles. He placed second at the USATF Outdoor Championships on June 26, running a personal best of 47.47 seconds. Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Rai Benjamin came in first with a blazing 47.04.

Bluffton High School grad Trevor Bassitt advances to the June 26 finals in the 400m hurdles at the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships, running a time of 48.38 seconds.
Bassitt will run at 4:14 p.m. on Sunday, June 26 on NBC. The top three finishers at this event will run at the World Outdoor Championships in July in Eugene, Oregon.
Bluffton Schools students in grades 7-12 who want to play a fall sport should attend the 7:00 p.m. meeting on Monday, July 25 at Bluffton High School. This is the required OHSAA Fall Sport Player/Parent Meeting.
This meeting for all fall sport athletes in grades 7-12 who want to participate in a fall sport and a parent. In addition, the physical exam form and medical eligibility form must be completed by a physician and uploaded to Final Forms at https://bluffton-oh.finalforms.com/.
With power restored following severe storms that occurred after Monday night's meet, the Bluffton Sardines hosted the Van Wert YMCA Marlins in Western Ohio Aquatics League (WOAL) competition on Thursday, June 16.
The Sardines won the combined event with a score of 929-199 and won the boys and girls meets.
Top Bluffton swimmers with four first place finishes in individual competition were Roman Shank, Camden Verb and Riley Verb. Swimmers with three first place finishes were Madelyn Agner, Ethan Roby and Madelyn Sterret.
The Bluffton Soccer Club registration is now open for the Fall 2022 season. Players with birth years 2008-2016 may register for participation with the youth soccer club.
