DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's golf team fired a 319 on Sunday at Eagle Rock Golf Club on a beautiful Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022. Coupled with a solid 314 on Saturday, the Beavers took 2nd place out of six teams at rival Defiance College.

The Bluffton High School girls tennis team lost 4-1 at Van Wert in a makeup match Monday, October 3.

The Pirate season record dropped to 3-13 with the defeat. The Lady Cougars improved to 10-5 with the victory.

The Pirate junior duo of Caitlyn Couch and Leah Klinger combined to post a Bluffton win at first doubles in three tough sets.

The tandem beat seniors Ashlyn Jennings and Livy Quillen 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. VW won the other four matches, each in straight sets.

Bluffton hosts Lima Central Catholic Tuesday to end the regular season.

Victory sets up NWC 1st-place showdown with AE

LEIPSIC--The Bluffton High School football team used a 20-point third quarter to defeat Leipsic 34-14 in a Northwest Conference contest on a cool Friday night, September 30.

The Pirates stayed in a first-place tie with Allen East atop the NWC with their fourth consecutive win, improving to 4-0 in the league. Bluffton is now 5-2 overall.

Pirate senior Landon Armstrong won the 144-runner boys race to lead the Bluffton High School boys cross country team to a strong fourth-place finish at the 25-team Kalida Invitational meet Saturday morning, October 1.

Armstrong crossed the finish line in a time of 15:56 to defeat 143 runners.

Senior teammate Erik Nygaard came in third at 16:03.4. Pirate senior Sam Derstine finished a very good 10th. 

The drop-off between the top three Pirate runners and the next four kept Bluffton from finishing higher as a team.
