The host Bluffton girls tennis team lost to Bath 4-1 Tuesday evening.
The Lady Pirate netters fell to 2-3 with the defeat. Bath improved to 3-1 with the victory.
Pirate seniors Ellie Nickel and Libby Frazier combined to post the lone Bluffton win at first doubles. They split the first two sets, winning 6-1 and losing 1-6. The duo then won a 10-point third set tiebreaker by a 10-7 count to take the bout.
Host Bluffton blew out local non-league rival Cory-Rawson 75-0 Friday night to open the 2021 season in impressive fashion at Harmon Field.
The convincing victory upped the Bluffton record to 1-0, while C-R fell to 0-1 with their second loss in as many games to the Pirates.
Bluffton beat winless C-R 50-14 in the 2020 season finale.
The Pirates stung C-R with a 24-0 lead after one period of play, and increased the margin to 54-0 by halftime with a 30-point outburst in the second stanza.
The Bluffton golf team won a three-team Northwest Conference match convincingly Thursday evening at the Hidden Creek Golf Course.
Bluffton beat Ada 159-216, and also whipped the Bearcats 159-257.
Ada defeated Spencerville 216-257 to earn their first league win.
Bluffton improved to 8-1 overall and 5-1 in league action with the sweep. The Bulldogs ran their record to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in NWC play with the split.
Pirate Kenny Lovett captured match medalist honors with a nine-hole score of 36.
