The surging Bluffton High School varsity softball team won its fifth straight game by decisively beating host Leipsic 7-1 on Charlie Bennettt Field Thursday evening, April 21.
The Pirate girls plated single runs in each of the second and third frames. Bluffton extended its lead to 5-0 with a three-run fifth.
The visitors tacked on two insurance runs in their seventh and last at bat.
Leipsic plated its lone run in the home sixth on a solo home run by losing pitcher Jocelyn Hermiller.
The Monday night ladies' golf league at Hidden Creek Golf Course and Bluffton Golf Club welcomes new playes for their April 25-August 29 season.

The Franklin College Grizzlies put up runs in bunches en route to a convincing Easter weekend sweep of the Beavers on Saturday, April 16, 2022 in Franklin, IN. Bluffton fell to 10-18 overall and 2-6 in the Heartland Conference following its sixth straight HCAC setback. Franklin improved to 15-12 with a 7-3 mark in HCAC play.
Bryn Cisco (Lancaster/Fairfield Union) took advantage of a pair of Franklin errors in the fourth to knot the game at 1-1 when she crossed the dish, but Franklin stormed right back with six runs in the home half despite just three Grizzly hits.

Pirate sophomore Lauren Bassett smacked a double, two singles and drove home three runs to pace the 14-hit attack.
Ashley Fleece also cranked a double and two singles, and knocked in one run. Senior shortstop Riley Busch slapped three singles and collected two runs batted in.
Playing in Ada, the Bluffton High School baseball team scored three two-out runs in the seventh inning to pull off a 3-2 comeback win over local rival Ada on the cool, windy evening of April 14.
Bluffton improved to 2-5 and 1-0 in the Northwest Conference after the improbable rally victory.
Ada dropped to 2-5 and 0-2 in the NWC with the difficult-to-swallow defeat.
