Several hundred Pirate faithful roared in the stands as Bluffton celebrated its most recent state champion

(COLUMBUS) – Deandre Nassar completed what he set out to do. 

The Bluffton High School senior standout grappler capped his career with a state championship and did not lose a single match the entire season. 

Nassar closed the 2018-19 campaign with a 48-0 record and now has added his name to the long history of Pirate wrestlers who have also earned state championships in years past.

(COLUMBUS) - Deandre Nassar made a valiant take down with just three seconds remaining in his state semi-final match to win 3-1 and advance to Saturday’s State Final of the 182 class.

Nassar advances to state quarterfinals

Senior Deandre Nassar improved to 45-0 on the season with a third period pin of Martin Ferry's Richard McFarlane.  Nassar was leading 14-3 at the time of the pin. 

With the win, Deandre will take on Wickliffe's Doug Byme Friday morning in the quarterfinal round.

Pirates out in districts

The Pirates lose no seniors and will be back for the 2019-20 season.

(LIMA) – Bluffton ran into a buzzsaw in the OHSAA District Semifinals Thursday in the form of Ottawa-Glandorf. 

The Titans recently got their roster back to full strength and put on full display in a 68-30 defeat of the Pirates.  Bluffton finishes the season 16-8.  Ottawa-Glandorf moves on to the District Final to take on Coldwater, which upset undefeated and state-ranked Archbold in the earlier game Thursday evening.
