Fourth consecutive shutout win; 5th whitewash in the last seven outings

BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton defeated local rival Cory-Rawson 10-0 in run-rule shortened non-conference softball action Tuesday evening.

The Lady Pirates improved to 16-1 with their 15th consecutive win. Meanwhile, the Lady Hornets fell to 2-13 with the defeat.

It was Bluffton's fourth consecutive shutout win, and their fifth whitewash in the last seven outings.

COLUMBUS GROVE - Visiting Bluffton stayed alone atop the league softball standings by shutting out Columbus Grove 10-0 in a Northwest Conference mismatch Monday evening.

The Lady Pirates improved to 15-1 overall and 6-0 in the NWC with their 14th consecutive win. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs fell to 4-6 and 1-4 in the NWC with the defeat.    

Pirate hurler Libby Schaadt improved her record to 13 -1 with a six-inning, complete-game shutout. She allowed just three hits, struck out 10 Bulldogs and walked four.

BLUFFTON - Lady Pirate junior Libby Schaadt fired a five-inning perfect game to lead host Bluffton to a 10-0 shellacking of Spencerville in a Northwest Conference softball mismatch Thursday evening.

Schaadt struck out 11 and allowed no Bearcat to reach base in her perfectoe. Her record is now 12-1.

The Lady Pirates extended their win streak to 13 games and improved their season record to 14-1 with the lopsided win.

Bluffton also improved to 5-0 in league action to stay in first place, a game ahead of Crestview.

Katie Prater hit a home run, singled and drove in two runs to lead the 13-hit Pirate attack.

MIDDLE POINT - Visiting Bluffton shut out Lincolnview 6-0 in a Northwest Conference softball battle Tuesday evening to extend their win streak to 12 games.

The Lady Pirates improved their season record to 13-1 and 4-0 in league play, good for first place. Lincolnview fell to 10-4 and 2-1 in NWC action with the defeat.

Pitcher Libby Schaadt improved her record to 11-1 this spring with a three-hit complete-game shutout. Schaadt struck out eight Lancer batters and walked four.

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton boys tennis team lost to visiting Kenton 4-1 Tuesday evening.

The Pirates fell to 2-6 with the defeat.

Bluffton's Drew Wilson posted the lone Pirate win with a 6-0, 6-0 whitewash of Rocco Longbrake at first singles.

The Pirates lost tough three-set matches at third singles (Jordan Siefer) and first doubles (Eden Nygaard/Grant Klinger).

Bluffton plays at local rival Ada (9-3) April 23.

Host Lima Central Catholic defeated Bluffton 4-1 in boys tennis action Friday evening at the Collett Street Courts.

Bluffton fell to 2-5 with the defeat while LCC improved to 3-7 with the win.

Pirate Drew Wilson won the first singles match 6-2, 6-4 over Thunderbird sophomore Aaron Simmons to post the lone Bluffton win.

Pirates Grant Klinger and Eden Nygaard lost a tough three-setter at first doubles by a 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 count. 

Bluffton (2-5) hosts Kenton Monday, April 15.
