After adverse weather turned Friday night lights into Saturday night lights, Bluffton seemed poised to win its 2nd game of the season. Delphos Jefferson had other plans heading into the final 12-minutes of the game.
Jefferson rallied for 21 points in the fourth quarter to win the game 21-14. It was a heartbreaker for the Pirates who were pitching a shutout and found some rhythm in its passing game.
Bluffton High School girls' soccer team won its second game of the season, stopping Allen East 1-0 on Sept. 10 in Bluffton. Sarah Schriner scored the winning goal in the second half for the Pirates.
Bluffton Pirates and Allen East were very evenly matched. Bluffton was able to sneak one in during the second half. The Bluffton defense then held the Mustages the remainder of the game.
Nine contestants correctly picked 13 games in this week's Bluffton Icon football contest. Mark Delisle was declared the winner by being the only person to correctly pick Bluffton's loss by 1-7 points in the first tie-breaker.
Bath defeated Bluffton girls' in soccer 8-0 on Sept. 8. Bath dominated the game by producing numerous shots on goal. Bluffton could not penetrate to get the offense going.
