Multiple kinds of soups, homemade bread and desserts will be available during the annual soup lunch benefit at Pleasant View United Methodist Church, Bluffton. Serving will be Sunday, March 1, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Donations will benefit a prom to honor those with special needs and disabilities for ages 16 and over. This is a ministry of former Pleasant View member Shane Geisheimer. The church is located at 300 Township Road 37, north of Bluffton. All are welcome. Cost is by donation.
The second mid-week Lenten service at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera, will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. Vicar Bryant Laude from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Findlay, (grandson of former Trinity Pastor Donald Laude), will preach on “If One Dies, it Produces Life for Many.”
The choir will sing “Were You There.” A light supper will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The church is at 301 North Main Street, Jenera, and is handicapped accessible. All are welcome.
During March eight Bluffton and Pandora congregations will partner with Samaritan House and Crossroads Crisis Center in Lima, through the “Supply Our Sisters,” (SOS) program, according to Amy Mikesell.
SOS is a month-long collection of feminine hygiene products (pads and tampons of various types) and the churches are collection points.
“Women make up 32 percent of the homeless population. Feminine hygiene products are essential, but are rarely donated to homeless shelters and women’s resource centers,” said Mikesell.
