Lutheran Social Services of Northwestern Ohio's ministry began in response to a need for chaplaincy service identified in 1910 by the Fremont Local Conference of the American Lutheran Church.
The public is invited to a 90th birthday celebration for Rev. Charles Warren, on Sunday, June 19, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church.
His actual birth date is Sept. 4, 1921, but his children are planning to be in the Bluffton area for several days in June.
The husband of Rev. Warren's youngest daughter, Paul Windsor, will bring a special message on June 19 at Ebenezer Mennonite Church during the Worship Gathering beginning at 10:15 a.m.
The Rockport United Methodist Church will hold its annual homemade ice cream social on Friday, July 8.
The menu will consist of homemade ice cream, barbecue and chicken sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, perfection salad, pies, cakes, coffee and punch. Serving will start at 5p.m.
The church is located at 5505 Rockport Road. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Laurel Neufeld Weaver, LISW, and Susan Flowers, LCDC 3, have recently joined the staff of the Bluffton office of Lutheran Social Services.

In July, a woman with Bluffton connections, Julie Hostetler Graber, will travel to Kenya to share her teaching experience with the staff of the Mathare Menno Kids Academy.
The Academy is a nursery through eighth grade school located in Mathare, a poverty-stricken area of Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa.
Julie was born while her parents, Don and Joyce Hostetler of Bluffton, were serving as volunteers in neighboring Tanzania. She has developed a lasting interest in the children there. This will be her third visit to Africa as an adult.
